Description
The Middleby 22450-0230 is a genuine OEM carbon brush set (pair of 2 brushes) for a DC motor rated at 1/15 HP. These brushes are used in motors with commutators; over time they wear down from use. Replacing worn brushes helps restore good electrical contact, reduce sparking, improve motor performance, and extend motor life.

🛠Tech Tips
-
Before installing new brushes, inspect the commutator (the copper segments inside the motor). Clean any carbon dust or buildup as this helps the brushes seat properly and reduces sparking.
-
Make sure the brush springs are not weak, and that the brush slides freely in its holder. If binding or too loose, performance will suffer.
-
When you first run the motor after replacement, do it under light load if possible, so the brushes can bed in gently.
-
Always have spare brushes — they wear out over time and are generally a low-cost preventive replacement.
📌 Note
-
If the existing brushes are very worn, or the motor is old, sometimes the holder or brush holder springs may also be worn; replacing just brushes may not fully restore function if other parts are degraded.
-
Always double check the shaft type / depth and brush size in your actual motor (measure the old ones) because a mismatch (even small) can cause poor contact or damage.
