Supporting Engineers Who Keep Kitchens Moving  – Our recommendations for keeping spare or replacement items in your tool kit to help reduce downtime, improve bake consistency, and protect revenue.

Here’s a list of what we would recommend that you have available:

1. Conveyor Drive Components

Drive Motor

Conveyor motors run continuously under heat stress. Bearings wear, windings fail, and gearboxes can seize.  Although we keep conveyor motors well stocked, having one readily available in case of a breakdown, especially on a busy Friday night or over the weekend, can be extremely helpful.

Recommendations for the parts to keep with your toolkit

  • Correct voltage and phase specification
  • Matching gearbox (if separate)

Conveyor Chain

Chains stretch over time, especially in high-output stores. A snapped conveyor chain means a complete stop in your service.

Recommended spares:

  • Oven Drive Chain – this is a relatively inexpensive and simple part that keeps the conveyor motor and belt together. It’s well worth keeping one to hand, it’s a quick fix that can keep you out of trouble.

2. Sprockets

Worn sprockets accelerate chain wear and cause tracking issues.

3. Heating System Components

Whether gas or electric, heating components are high-failure and high-impact parts. It’s not necessary to keep all these parts, but having a couple of the most essential may help keep things up and running.

For Gas Conveyor Ovens

Critical gas spares:

  • Ignition Module
  • Combustion blowers

These 3 parts are most common when it comes to heating issues, are often impacted the most by daily usage.

For Electric Conveyor Ovens

Must-have spares:

  • Heating elements
  • Solid state relays (SSRs)
  • Contactors

Heating elements and SSRs are among the most common electrical failures in electric conveyor ovens.

 4. Control & Electrical Components

Modern conveyor ovens rely heavily on electronic controls. A small, failed component can shut down the entire system.

Control Boards

If your site uses digital controls or programmable interfaces, keep:

  • Main control PCB
  • Display board
  • Overlay/keypad membrane

Lead times on boards can be long, holding one in stock can save days of downtime. Control Boards are usually OEM parts with long lead times, so it’s worth asking our advice beforehand.

Fuses & Protection Devices

  • Ceramic fuses
  • Circuit breakers

These are low-cost, high-impact spares. Worth keeping with your tool kit, certainly a simple life saver.

5. Cooling Components

Cooling Fans

Control compartments overheat more often than people realise. A failed cooling fan can cascade into PCB failure.

Keep:

  • Cooling fans
  • Fan blades

Fans and blades are not necessarily linked to an oven break-down, but having an oven control box run at high temp for prolonged period can cause problems. For the sake of a lower cost part, you can save a lot of money by having a spare.

6. Door & Mechanical Wear Parts

Engineers often overlook these – until they fail mid-service.

Door Springs & Hinges

Frequent opening cycles cause fatigue.

Door Seals / Gaskets

Heat loss affects:

  • Bake consistency
  • Energy efficiency
  • Burner cycling

A degraded gasket can increase gas consumption significantly.

7. Safety Components (Non-Negotiable Spares)

Never run without backup safety components available.

  • High-limit switches
  • Pressure switches (gas models)
  • Flame failure devices
  • Interlock switches

These components protect both operators and equipment.

Recommended Minimum Spare Kit (Per Site)

For a single conveyor oven site, engineers should ideally hold:

✔ Ignition kit (gas) or heating element (electric)
✔ Conveyor Drive Chain
✔ Cooling fan
✔ Temperature probe
✔ Set of fuses
✔ One control board (if critical site)
✔ Door gasket

For multi-oven or high-volume operations, scale accordingly.

Preventative Maintenance

Most are predictable wear and tear:

  • Conveyor chain Drive
  • Cooling Fan
  • Sprockets
  • Drive Shaft
  • Conveyor Motors
  • Fuses

Keeping these spares on hand transforms a 24-hour emergency into a 30-minute callout.

Final Thoughts from Pizza Parts

A conveyor oven is engineered for throughput – but only if maintained with foresight. Engineers who treat spares as strategic assets (not just replacement items) dramatically reduce downtime, improve bake consistency, and protect revenue.

At Pizza Parts, we support engineers with:

  • Rapid dispatch
  • Technical part identification
  • Support across leading conveyor brands

Because when the oven stops, everything stops.
